Costs:
Free membership allows you to create a full profile and to search and browse other profiles, but you have to subscribe to communicate with other members using any of the various methods available. Gold Membership starts at $9.99 a month for a yearly subscription, and you can use Date.com for one month for $29.95.
Account Setup: Complicated
Time it took to set up an account/profile: 25 minutes. It all started very well, with a list of options and boxes to tick, but then it required a mandatory essay, and apparently it had to be a very long one (our word count threw 345 words.) Later we found out that it could have been shorter, so now you know. Once your basic profile set you can still fill in more info, both about yourself and what you seek from a partner.
Photos:
You can easily upload up to 4 photos, which can be viewed as thumbnails or up to a roughly 4×4 in size. They have to be vetted before going online, which took a few hours. You can view other users’ photos for free too.
Search:
The search function is very easy to use, with many filters to narrow down your choices. Date.com has a huge user base, so searches are likely to throw hundreds of results.
Support:
Date.com has a large FAQ section and also offers email support.

They really should vet pictures for quality – the number of grainy, blurry and out of focus pictures out there is really discouraging. Other than that, the site is definitely well populated and reasonably easy to use, and the chat and video options are very exciting.
