Costs:
lavalifePRIME has a unique pay structure. While it’s free to join up, you do have to become a paying member to initiate communications with other members. But here’s where it gets unique – you don’t have to be a paying member to respond to members. Costs run $29.99 for one month, $56.97 for three months and $89.94 for six months.
Account Setup:
Creating an account is a relatively in-depth process at lavalifePRIME. First, enter your name, email and some basic information. While most other sites stop here with the required information, lavalifePRIME keeps on with a required photo and a required Life Experience portion, which kind of amounts to your profile greeting. There are no real secondary personality tests or advanced search options – so it’s up to you to find what you want.
Photos:
Members are required to upload at least one picture of themselves to even start up an account. After that, you’ve got more than a dozen slots provided that each picture is attached to a blog or caption. Outside of your profile pic, photos do not have to be of the member – you can do what you want.
Search:
Not really a lot of strong search options. Yes, you’ll be able to search according to gender, location and some answers to stock questions but no chemistry.com style searches.
Special Features:
This is an online dating site which verges on the social networking side of things. Tons of forums, blogs and non-romantic options make this perfect for more mature audiences perhaps looking for an intellectual meeting in addition to a hormonal one. The Life Experiences section is really what makes lavalifePRIME special – complete with audio and visual options, if you’ve got something to share with the 45+ community, this is a good place to share it.
Communication:
Emails and profile messages are the real crux of communications on lavalifePRIME. While there is an AIM style 24/7 text chat option, there is no audio visual chat or site-chaperoned phone calling.
Support:
A decent FAQ section is bolstered by a site-generated support email address. We couldn’t find a phone number though.

This is a site that really blurs the line between social networking and online dating. But because it’s dedicated for the mature online dating community, it works. This is a site which is about bringing together people who have lives of their own and are looking to add something to it, rather than radically change course. Overall, if you qualify, this is a worthwhile place to meet new people, both for romantic and social purposes.
