Matchmaker.comMatchmaker.com Review

Matchmaker.com is a spin-off of the popular Date.com website. The two websites use the same user backend, same template and same user profiles. In fact, I found after logging in to Matchmaker.com that I was redirected to Date.com. If you have a membership at one site, you basically have a membership at both sites.

On its own, Matchmaker.com is a pretty decent dating site. It has a large member base that consists of more than 2 million active users. Nearly 50,000 people sign up for new accounts every day, so the site appears to be in a constant state of growth. Matchmaker.com doesn’t offer anything unique, but it has a huge member base that makes it easy to meet new people.

How Matchmaker Works

Matchmaker.com uses a pretty simple signup process for all new members. A visit to the Matchmaker website will take you directly to a short form that you can complete to sign up for a free account. After you choose a username and password, you will be taken to a second area where you can enter some basic information about yourself and upload photos if desired.

It only takes a few minutes to set up your profile and then you are ready to start meeting people. A simple search feature can be used to browse singles in your area based on your own preferences. The search allows you to only view profiles with pictures, which I found to be a major positive. You can also save searches and add specific profiles to your “hot list” for you to visit later.

As a free member, the only thing you can do is flirt with people you like by clicking on the “show interest” button. If you want to send the person a message of any type, you will need to upgrade to a paid membership. Fortunately, the membership options at Date.com are all fairly cheap compared to the average dating site.

With a full membership, you can send e-mails, instant messages, voice messages and video messages to other members. Additionally, you can participate in chat rooms and will be given access to community newsletters and a basic online dating magazine. These extra features are nice to have, but you’ll spend the vast majority of your time browsing profiles and chatting with people.

Matchmaker.com Pros and Cons

Matchmaker.com’s greatest strength is its large member base. With more than 2 million active profiles and lots of new people joining every day, Matchmaker.com provides plenty of opportunities to meet new people. Thankfully, the easy-to-use search feature makes it possible to narrow down the list of potential matches to a manageable number.

The greatest disadvantage of Matchmaker.com is its hands-off approach to online dating. This dating site does not offer special features such as personalized matches or innovative conversation starters. After you purchase a paid membership, you are on your own. Some people may see this as an advantage, however, because you are not limited to a select number of predetermined matches.

If you want to get straight to meeting and talking to people, Matchmaker.com is the type of site to suit your needs. This dating site offers no psychological profiles or matches picked based on your personality type. You simply sign up for an account, browse user profiles and start chatting. It’s a simple and effective approach to online dating.
