Mate1.com partners with iovation to stop online dating scamsDating is now safer in Mate1.com, after the site joined forces with iovation to fight and prevent online dating fraud and abuse. Previously, dating sites had only a user’s email and physical address, which could be easily changed or lied about by repeat offenders. But iovation’s ReputationManager(TM) effectively identifies each user’s physical computer, meaning a repeat offender would have to buy a new computer to be able to go unnoticed – and even then, not for a long time. Elizabeth Wasserman, CEO of Mate1.com, is relieved by the new partnership, which she says has given Mate1.com “invaluable peace of mind.” She added,
With the ReputationManager, which shares information from the top online dating sites (as well as gaming sites and financial institutions,) Mate1.com can ban or block known offenders even before they set up an account. Iovation has focused a lot on online dating lately, and over 35% of iovation’s daily transactions are internet dating device reputation checks. iovation boasts over ten of the major dating sites as clients, and Mate1.com is a worthy addition. “We are extremely pleased to be partnered with Mate1,” says Greg Pierson, CEO of iovation.
Since most online dating scammers and abusers tend to be repeat offenders, iovation’s ReputationManager is indeed having a positive impact across the board: if a user is caught attempting fraud, spamming or abusing a site – for example, the user was asking for money in JDate.com – this user’s computer will be flagged in all other iovation customer sites, including Mate1.com. When the same user attempts to create a new account in another site, alarm bells will ring and the sites will be able to deal with the money-seeker even before the fraud is repeated. As more and more sites join this security network, the online dating experience will be an increasingly safer one for those who are legitimately looking for love online. |
