Summary: SearchYourLove is the Do-Everything mega-site powered by JointEffort. SearchYourLove has been operational for more than 5 years now meaning that it has both worked out all of the kinks in its system and developed a decent membership base. International, full of content, tons of photo options – SearchYourLove has a lot going for it. But something doesn’t seem right…
Pros:
- Very international membership base means you can get in contact with someone anywhere
- Lots of site-created content
- No limits on number of photos
- Seems to be free
- An extraordinary number of model-esque pictures/profiles
Cons:
- Something doesn’t seem right
- An inordinate amount of sleaze
- No A/V chat
Costs: SearchYourLove is a tough bug to nail down – for all intents and purposes, the site seems free. I was able to get up online, get registered and send chats to other members without paying a dime. However, buying credits through PayPal seems to be a big part of the site. However, I couldn’t find anything to actually spend them on. You can also make money if you get friends to register – I don’t know, something is not adding up.
Account Setup:
Simple as pie – log on, answer a few stock questions (“How tall are you” “What do you do for a living” etc, etc) and you’ll be on your way. There are no major secondary personality tests or real ins and outs to creating your profile – this one is a half-hour process tops.
Photos:
Unlimited photos for free. While SearchYourLove says that they do not allow racy pictures, one look at the membership base would say otherwise.
Search:
Huge membership base means that most searches yield good results. While there are no advanced matchmaking options a la eHarmony or Chemistry.com, the photo album layout meets up with some basic filtering options to make a strong search feature.
Special Features:
Tons of site generated content including info on cars, parties, horoscopes, fitness and relationship advice. Nothing much beyond that, however.
Communication:
You can chat with other members, send gifts and that’s about it. No A/V chat. And here’s what I’m talking about with something not adding up – just about every gorgeous girl’s profile page has no written greeting save for an instant messenger address. A beautiful young woman on a dating site does not write anything about herself and puts a chat address out there for any shlub who stumbles across it?! Something reeks in Denmark.
Support:
Dismal support – a site generated email address you have to hunt to find. No FAQs section, no site map and no phone number that we could hunt down.

Our reviewer’s opinion:
At the very least, SearchYourLove has been hijacked by its members and is now a sex-site. At the most, all of those Ukranian beauties listed on the site (and there are hundreds) are not just looking for innocent dating. Even if nothing sordid is going on, the whole thing is sketchy. Users have the ability to comment on photos and all you have to do is go into any female profile to find dozens of “oo lala” and “belle” and “sexy” comments from middle-aged men checking out twenty-somethings. The site itself is very difficult to manage (after scouring the thing for a couple of hours, I’m still not sure why you would need to buy credits on a free site) and without a lot of basic profile options. I like all of the photo options but something just doesn’t feel right. Check it out if you feel like looking at eye-candy posing in semi-nude Maxim-style pics… otherwise, let SearchYourLove alone.
