Summary:
SeniorFriendFinder is “Creating new relationships” among its large base of over 400,000 members. SeniorFriendFinder is a branch of the popular and large FriendFinder network (which was established in 1996) and it caters exclusively to members over 40 years of age.

Pros:
- Many members means more chances to find the right match
- The FriendFinder network software is superb

Cons:
- Pictures are too small, even for paying members
- There may be issues filtering searches according to relationship goals

Costs:
Free membership at SeniorFriendFinder is very restrictive: guests may set up a profile and browse headlines and thumbnails photos, but they may not even read full profile information without paying. Silver membership allows you to view and contact members and access their videos; you can join for as little as $11.31/month if you get a 3-month subscription – a single month will set you back $22.94. Gold membership also gives you full access to blogs and other features, extra large photos, top position in searches and access to other members’ IM contact. A 3-month Gold membership comes down to $14.98 a month (it comes with 1 extra month for free) or you can get a single month’s access for $34.94. Gold and Silver Members can buy enhancements such as allowing standard members to initiate contact with them or highlighting their profile in searches.

Acount Setup: Easy, but can take time
Like all FriendFinder sites, creating an account at SeniorFriendFinder has 3 steps: first you set up your basic profile, which took us about 6 minutes and only required 2 short essays. After this, the second step is for you decide how much information you want to add to your profile: SeniorFriendFinder has a number of sections and questionnaires on topics such as your Dreams & Goals, Dating Preference, Personality Traits and Outlook on Life. Answering those quickly will take you at least 20 minutes, but if you want to be thorough it might take over an hour. The last step, and an entirely optional one, is the FriendFinder “Personality Profiling” quiz. We recommend you do it: it takes a few minutes and gives you both your personality style and those types you are most compatible with. It took Senior FriendFinder about 40 minutes to approve and activate our completed profile.

Photos:
This is an area that can use some improvement. While you can upload a whopping 20 photos, you must upload (and wait for approval) a picture at a time; approval takes upwards of an hour. It seems unfair that Silver members, who are paying for the service, are only allowed see small pictures – only Gold members can see them in full size.

Search:
Like any FriendFinder site, non-paying members at SeniorFriendFinder may run a search by location and age. Paying members also have the options to refine by race, language, children and more. Our test search threw a good number of results, however, we were surprised to notice a good number of them seemed keen on “casual encounters” – there seems to be no way to filter those results out if you are looking for a more serious relationship. Most members have pictures, and they were of a significantly better quality (color, definition, focus) than those of other sites.

Special Features:
Since it partakes of the fantastic FriendFinder software, SeniorFriendFinder has many hi-tech features such as chat rooms and instant messenger. You can also upload introductory videos, join discussion forums and even create your own dating blog.

Support:
SeniorFriendFinder features an extensive and searchable FAQ section; if your issue is not addressed there you may also use an email form to contact their support department with your question, comment or suggestion.

In their words:
Senior FriendFinder is an online personals site for people over 40 years of age. With 411,797 active members, Senior FriendFinder easily lets members find a match in their own area or across the world.

Our reviewer’s opinion:
SeniorFriendFinder shares the good qualities of the FriendFinder network: a large user base, excellent software and a lively community of blogs and forums. Unfortunately it also shares its weaker points, such as very small pictures and very restrictive policies for non-paying (and even paying) members. However, there is no questioning this is the largest senior dating site online, and chances of finding a match here are as good as they get.
