The Three Types of Sites

There are 3 types of online dating sites.

In your quest for a special friend, you should be using the type of site which best fits what you are looking for (and why you are looking for it!)

So here you go, the three basic types of online dating sites:

  • The Sex Site: I always chuckle when I read about why laser discs died out and DVDs did not. According to most credible business analysts, the difference between laser disc extinction and DVD domination was porn. The porn industry took to DVDs and did not take to laser discs – that was pretty much it. Many people are into impersonal sex – hey, we’re animals too! Likewise, if you are looking for a tryst above an exclusive bit of monogamous relationship, then you want to go to sites like Passion.com where your profile will amount to a sexual questionnaire. These sites are for swingers, married people looking to anonymously cheat on their spouses and heavy travelers trying to find friends across the globe. If you want sex and nothing but sex, go to these sites.
  • The Z-Specific Site: I have a good friend who recently completed a long search for a mate. My friend is a successful guy, smart, athletic and Jewish and he was looking for a Jewish woman. That was point number 1. Likewise, if you are searching for a specific type of person (i.e. a specific race, a specific religion, etc etc) to share your life with, then you want to look at a site that specifically deals with what you specifically want. These are sites like Asian Singles Connection (if you are looking for someone Asian) and JDate.com (if you are looking for a Jewish mate.) It stands to be noted that these Z-specific sites are not sex sites – so if you are looking for sex with Z type of person, you should still be headed to a sex site. These Z-specific sites are for people looking for life partners and relationships with Z type of person.
  • The Do Everything Site: Then there are the rest of us. For people who are looking for someone but not sure who that someone is you’ve got the Do Everything Site. These are sites like eHarmony.com and Match.com where you will be asked to fill out an extensive series of questionnaires before starting up. These sites are trying to get as much information about you as possible and trying to match you up with someone who substantively fits with you (or fits with you in their opinions.) If you are looking for a long-term relationship, these are the sites for you.

There are people out there who want what you want. Whether that be an affair, a culturally traditional relationship or a life mate, someone out there wants exactly what you do. These sites will find that person for you – all you have to do is be honest with what you want and who you are.
